My Suit Jacket Saviour
It's another hot, sunny day in Toronto. I've driven all the way to the east end from Guelph, and just had headshots taken for my professional portfolio. It's 2 PM and I've walked back to the quiet residential street where my car is parked. I set my backpack on the ground and garment bag on the car while I take a 5 minute break to send some texts. Afterwards, I figure I better get going to go visit my sister on the west side, so I hop in the car and head off. It ends up being a 45 minute trip through thick traffic.
It's now 7:00 PM, and as I prepare to head back to Guelph I notice that my garment bag which contains my suit jacket is not in my car. Noooo, the realization sinks in that I left it on top of my car and drove away earlier. How long would it have stayed on? Hopefully it fell off on the street I parked on. Would someone steal a suit jacket? I quickly realize my only hope is to print some signs to post and drive all the way back, but I estimate the odds of it ever getting back to me pretty slim. What an expensive mistake...
I make it back to the block from earlier and decide to do a quick sweep of the area. I near the end of the street where a stop sign is attached to a hydro pole. Hanging from that pole, like a beacon to all those who pass, is my garment bag! I can't believe my eyes, and share my joy with a nearby resident who is out on her porch. Apparently people have been asking her why the heck there's an unattended garment bag out in the open. As I walk back to my car, I imagine some wonderful human being finding my suit jacket in the middle of the street and searching for that perfect spot to put it so I wouldn't miss it when I came back. I wish I could thank that person!
